An exponential middle-class

13 Indonesie, une classe moyenne exponentielle VA NON ST CRYPTEE-MPEG 4 HQ

Indonesia’s middle-class grows by 8 to 9 million people annually

In Indonesia, the economic boom has an immediate social consequence: every year, between 8 or 9 million people join the ranks of the middle class. At the current rate and in the year 2020, it will count up to 140 million people. These numbers explain the reason why Indonesia is such an attractive opportunity for multinational corporations, in need of growth drivers. In Jakarta, we met an Aikido teacher who explained to us how his lifestyle took a turn for the better in the last few years – proof of it is house, a high-tech spin on Ali Baba’s cave. Development and emerging markets economist Yves Zlotowski explains to us that the true opportunity for companies lies in the fact that consumers here prefer to equip themselves in force and favour foreign goods to local ones.
